SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – In a nail-biting encounter that went into overtime, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros emerged victorious over the San Francisco State Gators, with a final score of 94-89.
With this win, the Toros are second in the CCAA conference standings with a CCAA record of 6-2 and overall record of 11-3.
The game started with the Toros taking a commanding lead, scoring 45 points to San Francisco State's 30 in the first half. The Gators mounted a comeback, outscoring the Toros 48-33. This surge brought the game to a tie at the end of regulation, pushing the teams into overtime.
In overtime, the Toros regained the lead over San Francisco State 16-11. This crucial period saw the Toros reassert their dominance securing the win with a final score of 94-89.
Andre Ball led the Toros in scoring with a remarkable 25 points in 40 minutes. Ball showcased his efficiency, shooting 9-12 from the field, including 2-3 from three-point range, and was perfect from the free-throw line, making all five of his attempts. He also contributed five rebounds and three assists.
Jakob Alamudun also played a significant role in the Toros' win, adding 21 points in 35 minutes. Alamudun was effective from beyond the arc, hitting three of his six three-point attempts, and shot 7-13 overall. He also contributed four rebounds and three assists, along with a steal.
Alex Garcia contributed 14 points over 38 minutes. Garcia shot 5-10 from the field and 1-4 from three-point range, adding 3-4 from the free-throw line. He was also active on the boards, pulling down six rebounds and contributing a steal and three assists.
DJ Guest, playing 44 minutes, added 12 points for the Toros. He shot 3-5 from the field, including 2-4 from three-point territory, and was perfect from the free-throw line. Guest also contributed five rebounds, one assists, and one steal.
