San Francisco, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros dominated the San Francisco State Gators 68-51. The Gators fall to 3-10 while the Toros move to 6-8 on the season.
The Toros would start the game down 0-1,after that they never trailed. They went on a 12-0 run during the first quarter giving them a 12-5 lead at the end of the quarter. Keeping their lead, at halftime the Toros were up 32-21 over the Gators.
After the half the Gators would fight back in the third quarter scoring 19 points but were unable to stop the Toros defensively who also scored 19 points.
The Toros would have their biggest lead of 19 points at 5:07 in the third quarter. The biggest story from the game proved to be the Toros offensive efficiency, topping the Gators 41.1% to 27.9%.
Toros would win the turnover battle 19-7, while dominating the points in the paint 30-18. They would also show their dominance by out rebounding the Gators 54-29.
Amaya Snowden was the team leading scorer for the Toros, contributing 15 points in 36 minutes. She shot 6-11 from the field and also grabbed seven rebounds.
Asia Jordan made her presence known defensively by bringing down 16 rebounds and grabbing one steal. She also contributed with 11 points while shooting 4-7 from the field.
Also playing a huge role for the Toros was Cristina Oliva who scored 12 points in 31 minutes shooting 3-8 from the three point line.
Keeping up with the trend of efficiency Malia Goldsmith scored 12 points for the Toros shooting 4-8 from the field and 2-3 from the three point line.
Toros next game is Saturday, January 13th as they take on the Pioneers of Cal state East Bay on the road at 5:30pm.
