Hayward, Calif. -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros closed their road trip undefeated as they outlast the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, 78-67.
The Toros moved to 7-8 on the season and 4-5 in the CCAA and the Pioneers moved to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in CCAA play.
This was a tightly contested match with there being 11 different lead changes throughout the game. The Pioneers would take a 35-31 lead into the break. shooting 33.3% from the field.
The Pioneers would lead a majority of the game but the Toros would use defensive stops to grab the lead. Toros got their lead in the 4th quarter out scoring the Pioneers 25-12. The Toros shot 46.2% from the field while holding the Pioneers to 22.2%.
Cristina Oliva led the way for the Toros with 22 points shooting 7-14 from the field. She also contributed to the win with nine rebounds.
Nala Willians contributed with 16 points for the Toros shooting 6-16 from the field. Her defensive presence was felt as she also had 3 steals on the night.
Asia Jordan scored 15 points on the night and had eight rebounds.
Hosanna Walker was 4-8 from the field scoring 13 points for the Toros.
The Toros are back in action when they take on Cal Poly Humboldt on January 18 at 5:30pm.
