CARSON — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros clashed with San Francisco State, ending in four sets, 3-1. The Toros kicked off with a blast, claiming the first set 25-22, but San Francisco State responded, securing the next sets 25-19, 26-24, and 25-19.
Bailey Fuches was the beacon for the Toros, orchestrating the offense with nine kills and a noteworthy .231 hitting percentage. Her versatility was on full display as she also piled up 23 assists, two service aces, and 10 digs.
Kayly Pau and
Ava Hurry bolstered the Toros' offensive charge, each contributing seven kills. Pau also made her presence felt at the net with a block and two block assists. Meanwhile,
Teagan Irish demonstrated her net dominance with six kills and a sterling .429 hitting percentage, coupled with a solo block and five block assists, reinforcing the Toros' defensive line.
Nina Robles was the defensive linchpin for the Toros, leading the back line with 14 digs, and creating multiple scoring chances.
Jesi Diekmann and
Camila Sanchez-Tellez also played pivotal roles, chipping in with four kills each, and Diekmann adding three block assists to the Toros' defensive efforts.
The Toros will take on No. 12 Cal State San Bernardino tomorrow in the Torodome with first serve set for 5pm.
