SAN MARCOS — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros (8-2; 3-0 CCAA) rallied to secure the last three sets for a 3-2 victory over the Cal State San Marcos Cougars (4-7; 2-1 CCAA) downing their third straight CCAA opponent for their sixth victory in a row.
 
The Cougars initially took command, securing the first set 28-26 and extended their lead by clinching the second set 25-21. However, the Toros mounted a formidable comeback, claiming the third and fourth sets 25-21 and 25-17, setting the stage for a nail-biting fifth set. It was CSUDH who prevailed, sealing the final set 17-15 and completing their comeback.
 
Several players stepped up for the Toros, contributing significantly to the thrilling victory. Ava Hurry led the team's offense with 16 kills, while Kayly Pau added 12 kills and contributed 15 points. Jesi Diekmann displayed impressive accuracy, with a hitting percentage of .583, and chipped in 9 points. In the backcourt, Nina Robles exhibited defensive tenacity with a season high 29 digs, and Bailey Fuches orchestrated the attack efficiently with 29 assists, also contributing 6 points to the team's victory.
 
The Toros continue to improve on last year's record, already winning two more games than last year overall record with most of the season remaining.
 
Tomorrow, September 23rd, CSUDH will journey to Pomona for a crucial matchup against No. 18 Cal Poly Pomona at 3 pm, the current leaders of the CCAA.
