CARSON — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros clinched a memorable victory over the Chico State Wildcats in straight sets, 3-0.
Teagan Irish topped the scoring charts for the Toros with eight kills on a .375 hitting percentage, adding a significant impact to the game. Close behind,
Bailey Fuches contributed six kills, and impressed with her all-round performance by assisting 15 times and making 12 digs, the highest for her team.
Jesi Diekmann and
Kayly Pau also had solid outings, both racking up 7.0 points for CSUDH, with Diekmann boasting a .364 hitting percentage and Pau making her presence known at the net with a block solo and two block assists.
Evania Sanchez showcased her setting prowess by notching up 16 assists, while
Nina Robles led the defensive efforts with a whopping 18 digs.
The Toros showed their determination right from the outset, narrowly edging Chico State 25-23 in the opening set. They built upon this momentum in the second set with a convincing 25-12 win. The third set, however, proved to be a battle. The Wildcats, determined to stave off a sweep, pushed the Toros to the limit. With resilience and teamwork, CSUDH emerged victorious, sealing the set 27-25.
