CARSON — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros showcased their might on home turf, overcoming the Stanislaus State Warriors in a riveting 4-set match.
From the outset, the Toros asserted their dominance with a commanding 25-14 victory in the first set. The Warriors, however, weren't going down without a fight, rallying back in the second set for a nail-biting 25-23 win.
The Toros, driven by standout performances from their leaders, reclaimed the momentum.
Ava Hurry led the charge with 16 kills on a .205 hitting percentage, contributing a team-high 16.5 points.
Jesi Diekmann and
Kayly Pau were also instrumental, both recording nine kills, with Diekmann achieving a .353 hitting percentage and contributing 14.0 points, while Pau added 11.0 points to the tally.
Bailey Fuches delivered on the playmaking front, dishing out 24 assists, and also demonstrated her defensive prowess with 15 digs.
Despite Stanislaus State's spirited showing in the second set, CSUDH's consistent offensive firepower and teamwork paved the way for victories in the subsequent sets, 25-22 and 25-16, sealing the win.
