Toros Fall to Mustangs, 2-1

CARSON — In a close-fought contest, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were unable to secure a victory against the visiting Master's University Mustangs, ending with a 2-1 defeat.

The Mustangs netted two goals in the first half. Maya Figueroa answered back with a goal for the Toros before the halftime whistle, but neither team managed to break through in the second period. Despite multiple opportunities for the Toros to level the score in the latter half, the solid defense from Master's University held firm.

Leading the pack offensively was Lauryn Bailey. Playing for a full 90 minutes, Bailey fired off an impressive four shots, with two of them being on target. Not far behind, both Alyssa Villalobos and Cynthia Ramirez demonstrated their offensive prowess. Villalobos launched three attempts, one of which was on goal, during her 84-minute tenure. Similarly, Ramirez recorded three shots during her 71 minutes on the pitch.

On the defensive front, Azalia Salazar made her presence felt, managing two shots, with one being on target, in a 65-minute display. Riley Burke and Sora Yun, who played for 83 and 90 minutes respectively, each contributed with a shot.

Coming off the bench, Figueroa proved instrumental, recording two shots on goal and netting the only goal for the Toros in her 51-minute appearance.

The Toros' goalkeeper Abigail Escalante collected two saves in her full 90 minutes of play.

CSUDH returns to Toro Stadium on Sunday, September 13th as they take on Western Colorado University at 10am.
