CHICO -- Senior
Aaron Greenfield has been named the CCAA Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 23-30 for his tremendous effort last weekend hosting Chico State.
Greenfield went 5-for-15 in the four-game set against the Wildcats with four home runs to slash a 1.133 slugging percentage and a 1.633 OPS (.500 on-base percentage). He drove in six runs, scored six times and drew five walks with just one strikeout to lead the Toros offense.
CSUDH split with Chico State to remain in the hunt for a CCAA Tournament berth.
The best game for the senior outfielder from Los Angeles was Saturday's second game, where he went 3-for-3 with three home runs. He scored four times and drove in five runs with two walks in leading CSUDH to a 15-6 win. He led off the game with a solo shot then walked and scored on a homer in the second inning. Greenfield then hit bombs in consecutive at bats in the fourth and fifth innings. His three-run dinger in the fifth gave CSUDH a 13-3 lead.
His 3-homer game tied a record that his teammate also matched last weekend, following the lead of Mike Gabbani, who set the record in 1990 with three bombs against Alliant International.
In all, the Toros hit five homers in the game. Greenfield also hit a solo round-tripper in the series finale on Sunday.
Greenfield is sixth in the CCAA with 63 hits and home runs (9). He's also eighth in the conference with 37 runs batted in.
Cal State Dominguez Hills wraps up its regular season schedule on the road at Cal State San Bernardino. The Toros, now 16-20 in CCAA and 1-½ games behind six place, are looking to return to the CCAA Tournament.
Teammate
Julian Diaz earned the CCAA Pitcher of the Week award to give the Toros a sweep of the weekly honors.
