Box Score CARSON -- Tied at 1-1 after 6.0 innings of play, visiting Chico State erupted for seven unanswered runs over the next three frames en route to an eventual 8-2 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills to open the penultimate four-game set of the year.

Caleb Ellis stroked his first home run of the year in the bottom of the 9th, but it was too little, too late in the loss that keeps the Toros in 7th place in the CCAA standings, 2.5 games behind 6th place Cal Poly Pomona with three games left in the regular season.
After the visitors plated the game's first run in the top of the 1st,
Miguel Marin tied the game with an RBI groundout three innings later.
Chico State, however, erupted for four in the 7th, two in the 8th and a run in the 9th before Ellis' blast accounted for the final tally.
VIncent Temesvary led the Toros with three hits, but CSUDH left 10 runners on base in the setback.
The two teams play two tomorrow, with first pitch of game one set for 12 noon on Toro Field.
