Box Score SAN FRANCISCO -- After coming up short in both games yesterday, Cal State Dominguez Hills regrouped in the series finale at San Francisco State en route to a 6-3 win over the Gators to split the season series at two wins apiece.
Nate Ortiz (pictured) went 6.0 innings with six strikeouts to pick up the win, with
Scott Ogrin and
Anthony Accordino both going yard.
The Toros loaded up on SFSU starter Jordyn Eglite with four runs in the 2nd and two in the 3rd, with Ogrin beginning the run production with a solo shot in the 2nd.
After a sacrifice fly made it 2-0 Toros,
Justin Abercrombie and
Aaron Greenfield both drove in runs with RBI singles for a 4-0 lead.
The Gators replied with a run in their 2nd inning courtesy of a Toro error, but Accordino got that back and then some with a blast over the left field wall for a 6-1 lead.
SFSU answered with two runs in the 4th but Ortiz and Dan Baker held them scoreless the rest of the way, with Baker tossing 3.0 innings of no-hit ball to pick up his second save of the year.
Smelko, Accordino, and
Miguel Marin each tallied a pair of hits in the win as both sides knocked 11 hits.
The Toros will head to Cal State San Marcos on Tuesday to resume a postponed contest from earlier this month, before hosting Cal Poly Pomona for a four-game series at Toro Field, beginning Friday at 3 pm.
