CARSON – After a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros edged out the Stanislaus State Warriors with a thrilling 65-63 victory. The game was a close battle throughout, with the Toros making a decisive push in the second half to clinch the win and increase their win streak to seven games.
The first half was closely matched, ending with Stanislaus State slightly ahead at 27-26. Both teams played with intensity, setting the stage for an exciting second half. In the latter half, the Toros stepped up their game, outscoring Stanislaus State 39-36.
The Toros were at a 15-point deficit with 5:55 on the clock when they went on a 19-2 run against the Warriors. This surge sealed the victory for the Toros, 65-63.
"I'm thankful to escape tonight's game with a win" said coach
Steve Becker. "Credit to Paul Trevor and Stanislaus State. We made some plays late to change the momentum of the game, but it took us far to long to get to the point." Coach Becker continues, "We need to self-reflect and make sure we put a better product on the floor Saturday against Cal State Monterey Bay."
Jakob Alamudun was a standout player for the Toros, co-leading the team in scoring with 19 points. He shot an efficient 7-12 from the field, including 1-3 from three-point range, and was perfect from the free-throw line, hitting all four of his attempts. Alamudun also pulled down seven rebounds and contributed defensively with a block and a steal.
Jeremy Dent-Smith matched Alamudun's scoring output with 19 points of his own. Shooting 6-13 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc, Dent-Smith also made 5 of 6 free throws. He contributed two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, showcasing his all-around impact on the game.
Alex Garcia added seven points and led the team with nine rebounds, providing a strong presence on the boards. Garcia also contributed a steal, playing a crucial role in the team's defensive effort.

Za-Ontay Boothman and
Jacob Washington, who added seven and six points respectively. Boothman made key shots, including a three-pointer, while Washington, contributed five rebounds and a steal.
