SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In a thrilling encounter, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros overcame a first-half deficit to secure a 73-66 victory against the Cal State San Marcos Cougars for their sixth straight win.
The first half saw Cal State Dominguez Hills trailing, with San Marcos taking a 39-35 lead. However, the Toros turned the game around in the second half, outscoring San Marcos 38-27. This impressive comeback was fueled by the Toros' intensified efforts on both ends of the court, showcasing their resilience and strategic adjustments.
Jeremy Dent-Smith was a standout player, leading the team with 18 points. He shot 6-15 from the field, including 3-7 from beyond the arc, and was solid at the free-throw line, making 3 of 4 attempts. Dent-Smith also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds.
Matching Dent-Smith in scoring was
Za-Ontay Boothman who secured 18 points, shooting an efficient 6-10 from the field and an impressive 4-7 from three-point range. His scoring off the bench was a vital component of the Toros' offensive firepower.
