Box Score ARCATA, Calif. - In a hard-fought match against the Cal Poly Humboldt Jacks, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were unable to match the score as the Jacks sealed the victory, 2-1.
The Jacks Marcus Abdel-Malek hit the back of the net first with a goal at 2:16. The Toros answered back and scored when Jhoel Sarraude capitalized on a penalty shot at 33:49. A late minute goal by Konnor Rowan put the Jacks on top with less than seven minutes left in the game.
Sarraude's efforts were aided by Martin Velasquez's major presence in the midfield, taking five impactful shots contributing to the field for 85 minutes. The aggressiveness of Diego Barahona and Michael McKibbon on offense, coupled with midfielder Logan Kauffman, they all logged ninety-minute performances in a crucial time late in the season.
Substitutes Ethan Jacobs and Davien Karanikolas, along with defender Kenny Lee, were instrumental in their time off the bench, their precision and grit kept CSUDH in contention throughout the match.
The Toros next match is on Sunday, October 29th against Sonoma State at Seawolf Stadium with kickoff set for 2 P.M.
