Kresl Ties Program Record for 3's to Lead Toros to Win Over Seawolves

CARSON – Colten Kresl scored a season-high 31 points, including a program-record nine 3-pointers, as the senior powered the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team to an 81-65 dominating win over Sonoma State at the Torodome Thursday evening.

Kresl broke the 30-point barrier for the first time since he set his career-high 38 points at San Francisco State back in 2020. His nine 3-pointers tied former Toro Deshay Gipson's program record he set against Cal State San Marcos in 2017.

The senior also highlighted the evening with a season-high six assists.

The Toros never trailed at any point in the game and had led by as many as 20 late into the second period.

Dominguez Hills, winners of five of the last seven games, improves to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA. With more than a month to go in the regular-season, the Toros sit in fifth place despite many games canceled throughout the CCAA. Dominguez Hills and the rest of the 11 members will have to wait and see how the conference office address the awkward look to the standings.

Chris Seeley also had a good night grabbing 10 of the Toros' 36 rebounds and missed one point for a double-double.

The Toros ended the night shooting 47.6 percent from the field while hitting season-best 16 3-point baskets.

Dominguez Hills will be welcoming Humboldt State to the Torodome Saturday at 3 p.m. Spectators are temporarily suspended from attending the game but can watch the game live on the CCAA Network with Jonah Malkin on the call. The Toros will be welcoming back fans to campus February 3, when they host crosstown rival Cal State LA on the City of Carson Night.
