SAN FRANCISCO –
Colten Kresl scored 22 points,
Chris Seeley had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, but the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team fell to San Francisco State 81-71 Thursday night.
The loss snaps a two-game win streak for the Toros, who fall to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the CCAA.
Dominguez Hills had to climbed out of a 7-0 hole less than three minutes into the game. Kresl helped erase that early deficit by scoring five points during a 7-0 run to tie the game. The Toros grabbed their only lead in the game shortly after with a Kresl 3-pointer and a Seeley jumper.
Tied at 20 with less than six minutes left, the Gators ended up taking control of the game with a 14-4 run to build a 34-24 lead at halftime.
The Toros did get to within two (57-55) with 8:38 left, highlighted by a 7-0 momentum led by
DJ Guest.
Both sides shot 41 percent from the field and each of them made eight 3-pointers. The Gators had the free throw advantage, making 17-of-24 comparing to the Toros' 9-of-13.
Because Cal State Monterey Bay's men's basketball program is on COVID-19 protocol, Saturday's game has been declared a no contest by both the NCAA and CCAA. The Toros will now head home to welcome Sonoma State Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
