CARSON – Facing perhaps the busiest week of the 2021-22 schedule - which was not planned - the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team began their three games in six days with a 79-66 win over Westcliff Monday.
The Toros and Warriors were scheduled to meet this past Saturday, but the Warriors had to reschedule to compliance with NAIA scheduling. The rescheduling now has the Toros (5-4, 2-1 CCAA) playing the Warriors Monday and then jump back into CCAA play for the remainder of the season starting Thursday with No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona Saturday at 3 p.m.
Seniors
Colten Kresl and
Chris Seeley led the way with 17 points while
D'Mauria Jones earned himself a double-double with a dozen points and 11 rebounds.
DJ Guest also had 12 points on the day.
The Toros as a whole shot 45.5 percent from the field.
Although the Warriors (2-3) were up 9-5 for their only and largest lead in the game, the Toros went on a 12-0 run to move back up front permanently. Dominguez Hills then reach a double-digit lead when
DJ Guest connected a pair of free throws to make the score 33-23 with 4:49 left in the opening period.
The Toros would take a 19-point lead (51-32) into intermission. They would lead by as many as 26 points midway through the second half.
