Toros Drop 2-1 Decision to Yotes

SAN BERNARDINO – Holly Kaemerle converted a penalty kick late into the match, but a similar situation in the first half in favor of Cal State San Bernardino proved to be even more costly as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Yotes Friday afternoon.

The Toros fall to 4-11-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the CCAA with two matches to be played.

San Bernardino (4-10-1, 2-6-1 CCAA) was awarded a penalty kick opportunity following a tackle in the box. Vidalia Abarca won the battle with keeper Alyssa Newsom to put the Yotes ahead 1-0.

Abarca came through again in the 60th minute by scoring the eventual match-winner on a breakaway.

The Toros were getting something going in the 87th minute. Lex Howard made a perfect pass into the box from the left side to Jordan Barber and was dribble toward the goal when she was shoved, awarding her a penalty kick opportunity. Kaemerle took the kick and went to the right side of the goal.

Dominguez Hills dominated the shot column 14-5 overall, 8-5 in the on-goal tab.

The Toros conclude their road schedule at Cal State San Marcos. Kickoff on Sunday is set for 11:30 a.m.
