Toros Split Another Doubleheader with No. 17 SF State

HAYWARD – The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team split another doubleheader with 17th-ranked San Francisco State at Cal State East Bay's Pioneer Field Sunday. The Gators held on to win game one 8-6 while the Toros took game two in similar fashion 4-3.

The two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) teams ended up splitting the four-game series in which was relocated to Hayward after San Francisco's Maloney Field was ruled unplayable due to the rain during the week.

GAME 1 – No. 17 SFSU 8, CSUDH 6
TOP PERFORMERS
Angel Estrada – 2-for-3, 3B, Sac Fly
Domenic Colacchio – 2-for-4
Kai Gomez – 2-for-4, RBI

WHAT HAPPENED?
- While the Toros (10-15, 9-14 CCAA) struck first in the third inning with Gomez hitting an RBI single to score in Estrada, the Gators (14-2-1, 12-2 CCAA) responded with four runs in their half of the frame.
- Dominguez Hills had a rally opportunity in the eighth inning trailing 8-5. Colacchio led off with a single and reached third on a wild pitch followed by a base hit from Crisosto. Estrada plated Colacchio using a sacrifice fly and Gomez, the potential tying run, singled right after. The Gators escaped the threat with a ground out.
- The Toros did out-hit the Gators 12-9 in the game.
- Both starting pitchers made it through six innings before turning it over to their respective bullpen. Jesse Villalobos struck out four but gave up six earned runs on a walk and seven hits. Spencer Hereford also gave up an unearned run in two innings of relief. On the other side, starter Jordyn Eglite surrendered two earned runs on six hits and a walk.

GAME 2 – CSUDH 4, No. 17 SFSU 3
