TURLOCK – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team couldn't reclaim the lead throughout the second half as it fell to Stanislaus State 87-82 in the regular-season finale Saturday night.
The Toros finish the regular season 14-13 overall and 12-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
TIME TO DANCE
With the loss, the Toros will have to settle with a sixth-place finish and take the No. 6 seed. Fortunately for the Toros, they will have the benefit of less travel as they will visit the No. 3 seed Cal State East Bay, which is also the host of the semifinal and championship game. The two teams will meet at Pioneer Gymnasium Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- It was a tale of two dominations in each half. All 16:14 of the Toros lead was in the first half. They had led by as many as eight in the game.
- The Warriors (12-14, 9-13 CCAA) completed that 8-point deficit and took a 33-32 lead into halftime.
- The Toros had to rebound from a 12-point gap in the second half. They did get to within with roughly six minutes to go but couldn't find a way to make the leap over.
- The loss is a tough one to swallow for Dominguez Hills, as it shot 52.5 percent (31-for-59) from the field. Stan State was also over the half-century mark (51.7 percent).
- Dominguez Hills did prove to have a deeper roster tonight as the bench outscored the Warriors' side 30-4. Whitsett had 16 of those points.
POSTGAME NOTES
- The Toros, at a 12-10 CCAA record, assured themselves a winning record in conference play for the first time since 2012-13.
- It is only the fourth time this season the Toros shot over 50 percent and yet lost a game. The last was at Humboldt State.
