SEASIDE – Five different Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball players reached double figures in points as the Toros closed out the year 2019 with an 86-75 road win at Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon.
The Toros (8-5, 4-3 CCAA) enter the NCAA-mandatory break snapping out of a two-game losing funk.
Colten Kresl came off the bench for the first time and scored a team-most 17 points along with five assists.
Nick Kornieck finished with 15 points;
Andrew Whitsett had 14 with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Kaden Bradley had a dozen points and
Alex Garcia rounded out the group with 10.
Dominguez Hills ended up shooting 41.5 percent (27-for-65) around the perimeter while making a dozen of those shots from the 3.
Free throws most certainly helped keep the Otters (4-8, 1-5 CCAA) in the game, going 31-for-42 on the line. Damian Wilson scored 11 of his 20 points on the charity stripe to lead Monterey Bay.
The Toros won the rebounding column again, 42-36.
The Toros had a 38-37 lead going into halftime. Although the Otters had a brief lead midway through the second half, the Toros would use a 12-2 run to take a 67-59 lead with 6:25 left.
Dominguez Hills opens the year 2020 at home hosting Chico State on January 4 at 3 p.m.
