SEASIDE - Cal State Dominguez Hills scored early and held on for a 1-0 shutout victory over Cal State Monterey Bay in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's soccer matchup, Sunday Otter Soccer Complex.
Â
"It was a great win for the program, (we) played with toughness and energy for 90 minutes," said head coach
Marine Cano. "They all did their jobs defensively, and created good opportunities to score goals, but Monterey Bay played very hard and smart. It was a battle until the very end."
Â
CSUDH (5-7-2, 3-4-1 CCAA) scored the lone goal of the game in the 24th minute. Junior

Â
CSUMB (8-5-1, 3-5 CCAA) and the Toros were even on shots, 4-4. Sophomore goalkeeper
Alyssa Newsom recorded her first shutout of her career and compiled two saves.
Â
The Toros will host UC San Diego on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 4:30 p.m. for their next match.
