CARSON - Junior
Haley McDevitt nailed the penalty kick with less than three minutes remaining as Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated Cal State San Marcos 2-1 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's soccer matchup, Saturday at Toro Stadium.
Before the contest, seniors
Meana Asuncion,
Alyssa Dunphy and
Chrystal Dorado were honored as they played their final home game of their careers.
The Toros got things going early with a goal in the sixth minute. Junior
Sofia Litendahl dribbled down the left side and hit a cross to Dunphy running down the right side. Dunphy was able to get contact on the ball and hit it into the lower right corner.
The Cougars responded and equalized in the 30th minute as both teams went into halftime with the score 1-1.
With less than three minutes left in the contest, junior
Holly Kaemerle was able to draw a Cougar hand ball inside the box as McDevitt's ensuing penalty kick was true.
CSUDH will hit the road and face Humboldt State on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 12:30 p.m.
