CARSON –
Ahlisha Henderson scored a career-high 18 points while three others combined for 35 but the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team dropped an 89-73 California Collegiate Athletic Association matchup to first-place and ninth-ranked UC San Diego at the Torodome Saturday.
The Toros fall to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the CCAA while the Tritons remain perfect at 13-0 overall and 9-0 in the league. The two teams will meet again at the newly-remodeled RIMAC Arena on February 14.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- It was a slow start for both sides in the opening quarter.
Lea Anderson highlighted the day with a near 60-foot shot at the buzzer to end the first quarter trailing 22-21.
- UCSD took control of the game in the second. The Tritons ended up outscoring CSUDH 28-16 to take a 50-37 lead into halftime. Morrow led the effort with 11 points while Ledbetter grabbed four rebounds, three on the offensive side.
- The Toros finished the day shooting 37 percent (26-for-70) while the Tritons shot nearly 48 percent (32-for-67). UCSD, which leads the West Region in 3-point shooting, shot 7-for-24.
- Trailing by 15 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Toros got as close as 12 three minutes remaining.
POSTGAME NOTES
- It is not the first time the Tritons saw a Toro hit a half-court shot at the end of a period. Kielyn Wilson hit a deep 3 right at halftime at RIMAC Arena on January 22, 2016.
WHO'S NEXT?
The Toros leave Southern California for the first time in over a month to play at Chico State Thursday and Humboldt State Saturday. Both are 5:30 p.m. tipoffs.
