Kresl Nets 21 Points as Toros Bounce Back with Win Over Broncos

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team found its winning ways again as a 19-6 run in the second half led by Colten Kresl leaped the Toros over Cal Poly Pomona 74-69 at the Torodome Thursday night.

The Toros end a three-game losing skid and improve their record to 8-7 overall, 6-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The victory also broke a tie for fifth in the standings with the Broncos, who came to Carson with an identical conference record as the Toros. CPP drops to 7-5 overall.

The two squads will meet again at Kellogg Arena on February 28.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Broncos got into a groove that built them a 49-39 lead. It was that point when the Toros began the 19-point swing that gave them a 58-55 lead with 8:31 remaining.
- A critical point in the game came following a Toro timeout with 46 seconds left in the game and 10 on the shot clock. The Toros let the shot clock wind down to zero when Alex Garcia hit a deep three to give the Toros a six-point lead.
- The Toros finished the night shooting 55.6 percent (25-for-45) from the field, the second straight game they have reached the half-century mark. The Broncos shot 42.6 percent (26-for-61).
