Nguyen, Weber Set New Personal Bests in Toros Loss to No. 2 Coyotes

CARSON – Two Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball players set new personal bests against the second-best team in NCAA Division II in Cal State San Bernardino Saturday. Despite two comeback attempts in games two and three, the Toros fell short in three sets (12-25, 21-25, 21-25) to fall 5-10 overall and 0-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros had a stronger performance in the second game, especially on the defensive side in which they made 23 digs comparing to the Coyotes' 19. The Toros trailed by as many as eight in the round but came back to make it a 21-20 difference. They couldn't complete the rally as San Bernardino got the winnings points off of two kills and attack errors each.
- Dominguez Hills also had a comeback in the third game. With the Coyotes searching for both the game and match point, the Toros got to within 24-21 following kills from Marissa Weber and Tati Yandall. But a service error handed the Coyotes the match.
- It turned out to be a busy night for sophomore Lynda Nguyen, who came up with a career-high eight assists and three digs. Five of those assists came in game two.
- Marissa Weber also had a career-day against the one of the best teams in NCAA Division II, tallying a career-high nine kills along with seven digs.
- Sarah Greenland got the starting nod at libero for the first time in a while, making a dozen digs and credited for three assists.
 
WHO'S NEXT?
Dominguez Hills hits the road to play a struggling UC San Diego team Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Toros face a difficult month of October having to play 6-of-8 contests on the road.
