WHAT HAPPENED?
- Following a slow start in which both sides scored four points six minutes into the game, Los Angeles got into rhythm and went on a 10-2 run to take a 14-6 lead.
- The Toros would erase a 13-point deficit with five minutes remaining in the half and turned what looked to be a flat performance into a battle. Kresl highlighted the final 1:14 of the period by scoring five of the Toros seven points to take a 36-35 lead. The Golden Eagles got the last say with a layup at the buzzer to take a 37-36 lead into intermission.
- Despite the season-high performance, Kresl's night came to an early end when he picked up his fifth personal foul with 8:45 left in the second half.
- Following
David Howard's free throw that gave the Toros the 89
th point with 8.3 seconds left, LA was able to push the ball to their court but wasted all that time as the attempt to go for the game-tying 3 never left the Golden Eagles' hand.
- Even though the Toros shot 53.3 percent from the field, they conceded 25 turnovers, with the Golden Eagles producing 31 points off those miscues.
- The Toros seemed to be unable to stop Shacquille Dawkins, who scored 25 points off the bench for LA.
POSTGAME NOTES
- The Toros have now won three straight games against Cal State LA.
- Dominguez Hills made a season-high dozen 3-pointers, marking the first time the Toros reached double figures in that column on the year.
