Howard Scores 11 Points in Exhibition Loss to San Diego State

SAN DIEGO – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team got a brief break from finals and returned to action for the first time in 11 days, losing a 99-46 exhibition game to San Diego State at Viejas Arena Wednesday.

TOP PERFORMERS
David Howard – 11 points (7 in first half), 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 4-4 free throws
Michael Chavers – 8 points, 1 rebound
Colten Kresl – 8 points (all in second half)

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros kept pace with the Aztecs early in the game, having led for 2:38 total. Andrew Whitsett and Michael Chavers combined for eight points during that start.
- San Diego State eventually found a momentum using a 23-0 run to take a 32-9 lead halfway through the first period. The Toros went a little over seven minutes without a point. It wasn't until David Howard's dunk at the six-minute mark that ended the drought.
- The Aztecs took a 48-16 lead into halftime. Howard scored seven points off the bench to lead the Toros, who finished the period shooting 30 percent from the field.
- Dominguez Hills did get more shots in during the second half, shooting 10-for-32 for 31 percent. The Toros also had eight of their nine made free throws in the period.

WHO'S NEXT?
After traveling more than 2,500 miles to five different cities just to play their first seven games of the season, the Toros' trek ends on the shortest drive of the road stretch: up highway 710 to crosstown rival Cal State LA Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
