HAYWARD – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team couldn't recover from a late run in the first half as host Cal State East Bay knocked out the Toros 82-64 in the Cardinal and Gold's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener Friday night.
The Toros, who have yet to play a game on their home floor this season, dips their record into a 2-4 hole.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Dominguez Hills had kept the deficit to within five in the up to the halfway point of the opening period. East Bay went on a 13-0 run in nearly four minutes to build a 32-17 lead.
- The Pioneers would go on to build a 20-point lead six minutes into the second half and the Toros managed to cut the deficit down to eight with five to go.
- On a positive note, the Toros did win the rebounding for the first time this season, besting the Pioneers 37-29.
Michael Chavers had eight of those boards.
- Dominguez Hills ended the night shooting 49 percent from the field while East Bay hit 48.3 percent. The Pioneers stretched eight of those buckets from 3-point range. Garcia had two of the Toros four treys.
WHO'S NEXT?
The Toros will head south to Seaside for a day date with Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday at 3 p.m. The Otters are still winless on six attempts after to UC San Diego tonight.
