Isaiah Morris made a layup with 1.5 seconds left as the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team rallied from as many 10 points and avoided overtime by edging winless Cal State Monterey Bay 86-84 in the Kelp Bed for the first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) win of the season.
The Toro snap a two-game skid to improve to 3-4 overall. Both the Toros and Otters (0-8, 0-4 CCAA) will see each other again at the Torodome in February.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Morris' clutch basket came shortly after the Otters tied it 84 apiece after Jahvon Johnson hit a 3-point basket with 10 seconds left.
- Following a back-and-forth battle for the lead early into the game, the Otters capitalized on a 10-point run to build a 20-10 lead with 12:55 left in the first half. Dominguez Hills did outscore Monterey Bay 30-21 the remainder of the period to cut the deficit to 41-40 at halftime.
- The Toros found a rhythm right from the break by scoring 16 points for a 56-47 lead 4:20 into the second half.
- Free throws benefitted both teams. The Toros went 25-for-33 while on the other side the Otters made 20-of-24.
- In addition to shooting 44 percent from the field, the Toros won the rebounding 40-33 for the second consecutive game.

Andrew Whitsett recorded the Toros' first double-double of the season with his season-highs 21 points and 10 rebounds.
POSTGAME NOTES
- It is the second time this season the Toros had to win a game near the buzzer. The last was Hatfield's 3-pointer at Montana State Billings last weekend.

The Toros will go off the record and play an exhibition at San Diego State on December 12 at 7 p.m. The next official game will be up Highway 710 at crosstown rival Cal State LA on December 19.
