Hatfield's Trey at the End Helps Toros Edge MSU Billings

BILLINGS, Mont. – Mikey Hatfield connected a 3-point basket with 1.3 seconds left to lift the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team to a 75-73 road victory over Montana State Billings in the Yellowjackets' Thanksgiving Tournament Friday evening.
 
The win moves the Toros to 2-2 on the very young season.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Trailing 73-72, Isaiah Morris managed to steal an inbound pass at the Toros side of the baseline with 3.4 seconds left. Following a timeout, Morris inbounded to Hatfield at the right corner pocket to setup the winning 3-point basket. MSUB made one last effort by getting the ball across midcourt, but the shot came after the buzzer.
- Despite Dominguez Hills starting with an 11-2 lead, MSU Billings erased that deficit and tied the game 34 points apiece with 5:11 to go in the first half. Both sides traded off the lead until the Yellowjackets got the final layup at the buzzer to take a 40-39 lead at halftime.
- The 'Jackets had led by as many as eight less than four minutes into the second half.
- Dominguez Hills took full advantage of MSUB's miscues by producing 26 points.
 
POSTGAME NOTES
- The Toros are 2-0 against Montana State Billings. The last meeting was in 1981, when the Toros won 61-52 in Billings.
- The Toros are 2-1 against the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
- Dominguez Hills finished with a season-high nine 3-point field goals, besting seven in the last two contests.
- Both sides finished even on the rebounding column at 32. It is the first time on the year the Toros did not trail in this category.
 
WHO'S NEXT?
The Toros return to the Yellowjackets' Alterowitz Gymnasium Saturday to play Alaska at 4:15 p.m. Pacific Time. It will mark the final non-conference game of the season for the Toros.
