CARSON -- Sophomore midfielder Leonardo Nogueira found the back of the net in the 12th minute from just inside the box as the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team defeated Point Loma by a final score of 1-0, Thursday night at Toro Stadium.
 
It was the season opener for both teams as the Toros start their 2017 campaign at 1-0. The Sealions drop to 0-1.
 
CSUDH outshot Point Loma 20-14, including 14-9 in the second half.  Sealion goalie Wiktor Lasota compiled eight saves, while Toro goalkeeper Benito Gonzales amassed four stops of his own.
 
Nogueira totaled five shots for the game with four being on goal. His goal in the first half came on a pass from junior midfielder Israel Gonzalez.
 
CSUDH will have a day off before facing another PacWest foe in Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
