Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Sadler Joins 1,000-Point Club; Leads Toros to win at Humboldt State

ARCATA – Justin Sadler scored 24 points - including the game-winning jumper - which was more than enough for him to become the 10th player in Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points in the Toros 66-64 win at Humboldt State Saturday night.

Sadler entered the night needing only nine points to reach the millennium mark and did so 2:28 into the second half. His quest to move further in the record books begins with 1,079 set by James Shaw from 1979-83.

Deondre Otis and Jonathan Nichols each scored 13 points. Nichols and Sadler each had 10 of the Toros 39 rebounds to complete a double-double evening.

CSUDH (11-9, 7-7 CCAA) finished the night shooting 54 percent from the field.

Humboldt State (10-12, 5-10 CCAA) relied heavily on their bench to carry it throughout the game as five combined for 41 points. Malik Morgan led all Jacks with 13.

The Toros had led by as many as eight with 7:26 remaining in the first half. The Jacks did erase it and went into the break leading 32-25.

The deficit had be extended to 11 two minutes into the second period, but the Toros came back and tied it at 41 apiece with 14:31 left.

CSUDH had an 11-point lead also only to lose it with 20 seconds remaining. Sadler came to the rescue with a game-ending layup.

The Toros return home Thursday to host UC San Diego at 7:30 p.m. The Tritons escaped with the victory on a game-winning 3-pointer in the end at RIMAC Arena before Christmas.
