Toros Give Seniors Golson and Sadler a CCAA Championship Berth as Final Home Game Gift

CARSON -- For the first time in six years, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team will be playing in the month of March.

Vincent Golson scored 20 points and Justin Sadler grabbed 11 rebounds in their final game at the Torodome as the seniors and the Toros led for nearly 38 minutes to post an 84-75 win and secure the fifth seed to the CCAA Championships Thursday night.

Even though the Toros (14-11, 10-9 CCAA) will finish fifth, they still do not know where they will be headed for the conference tournament's first round Tuesday. They will likely have to wait until the regular season comes to a close Saturday night to know if they will visit either San Francisco State, Sonoma State or Chico State. The Toros finish on the road at Cal State San Bernardino at 7:30 p.m.

The Toro bench were major contributors to the win against a Cougar team that sent only one player off the bench that played more than two minutes. Dharion Tanner dropped 15 points and Glenn Baral had 11. Starters Deondre Otis and Jonathan Nichols combined for 24 points.

CSUDH finished the night shooting 45.6 percent from the field, including eight made from 3-point range.

Cougar Ethan Alvano was the only player to break 30 points on the night, scoring 31.

The Toros were dominant on the glass, outrebounding the Cougars 49-30.

CSUSM's only lead was for the first 2:10 of the game. Golson and Nichols combined for 11 points to take a 13-6 Toro lead.

The Cougars had only tied the game twice, with the last being at the 18:09 mark in the second half. The Toros would score nine points to take a 49-40 lead and would never look back.
