CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team made two last shot attempts within the final seconds to leap over Cal State Monterey Bay, but was unsuccessful as the Otters escaped the Torodome with a 55-54 win over the Toros Saturday night.
Jonathan Nichols scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds and assists each, Ralph Agee dropped in 10 points and went to the glass six times.
It was a cold-shooting night for the Toros (1-4, 0-2 CCAA) as they compiled a 30.4 percentile.
The Otters (1-3, 1-1 CCAA), though, were the opposite as they shot nearly 42 percent. Jahvon Johnson scored 20 points to lead both teams.
The Toros had led by as many as seven points, when a 14-3 run put them ahead 34-27 with 1:34 left.
Dominguez Hills had led up until the Otters score six points to take a 47-45 lead with 6:21 left.
CSUDH will leave the Main land and visit Honolulu for three games, starting with Hawai`i Pacific at 7 p.m. PST.
