Tanner, Sadler Break 20-Point Barrier in Toros Win Over Jacks

CARSON — Dharion Tanner and Justin Sadler combined for 42 points and 15 rebounds and a late second half surge propelled the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team to a 90-70 win over Humboldt State to extend their streak to three Saturday night.

Tanner scored 18 of his 22 points in the second period while Sadler had 20 and was a rebound shy from completing a double-double.

Vincent Golson dropped 16 points to keep his streak of scoring more that 15 points in a game to seven. Along with going a perfect 10-for-10 on the free throw line, he also dished out seven assists. Glenn Baral was also a key contributor off the bench, scoring 13 points.

It was one of the best shooting nights for the Toros (8-4, 4-2 CCAA) as they reached a season-high 53 percent, besting the two points at UC San Diego before Christmas.

Humboldt State (8-6, 3-5 CCAA) had its only lead in the first half, but only by as many as two.

The Jacks got a 3-pointer from Jeryn Lucas to cut the deficit to eight at 8:11. The tide permanently turned to the Toros when they went on a 17-5 run in 6:38, extending the lead to 87-67 with 90 seconds remaining.

CSUDH and HSU will be meeting again next month in Arcata, but in the meantime, the Toros now head to 'The Valley' to play the rubber game of a three-game season series against Stanislaus State. Tipoff on Friday is at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have used their home court to win the first two meetings with the last one at the Torodome being a counter to the CCAA.
