Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Golson Scores 25 Points But Toros Lose Rubber Game to Warriors

TURLOCK — The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team can put Fitzpatrick Arena in the rearview mirror for the rest of the season after suffering another tough loss to host Stanislaus State Friday night.

The Warriors used a hot shooting percentage of 52.7 on their home floor to beat the Toros 86-76 and end what has been a rollercoaster three-game season series between the two CCAA schools this season. Both teams have used their own gym to earn their wins.

Vincent Golson continues to stay hot as the senior scored 25 points, marking the second straight game he has set a new season-best. Once again, though, he was short from his career-high 29 set last year. In addition, he extended his streak of scoring more than 15 points in a game to eight.

Khalil Bedart-Ghani finished with 16 points with three of his five field goals coming from beyond the arc. Deondre Otis and Mikey Hatfield, who grew up down the road in Manteca, each scored 10 points.

The Toros were without the services of Justin Sadler, who had to leave the game with an injury midway through the first half.

Unlike the last time these two teams met in Turlock, the Toros turned in a better shooting percentage of 38.8 percent. The Cardinal and Gold shot a cold 28.6 the last time they visited Stanislaus back in November.

Stanislaus State had led for just over 33 minutes. Its largest lead was 20 early in the second half. The Toros got to within eight with five seconds left.

Kaelen Mitchell led the Warriors with 18 points.

CSUDH heads further north to Chico State Saturday. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
