Men's Basketball Uses Home Court to Get Back to Winning Ways

CARSON – Coming off two difficult defeats north of the state last weekend, the Cal State Dominguez Hills turned to the friendly confines of Dave Yanai Court to get back to their winning ways as the Toros overcame multiple nine-point deficits and skip by Cal State Monterey Bay 64-56 Friday night.

Although the Toros (9-6, 5-4 CCAA) are 2-6 on an opponent's floor, they sure have protected their own as they've won all four meetings this season.

With his 19 points, Vincent Golson has now scored more than 15 points in 10 straight contest. It was also the second time this season he has gone perfect on the line when he has more than 10 opportunities.

The Toros also got eight points from Justin Sadler, Marquis Godfrey and Mikey Hatfield. Godfrey also led the rebounding department with seven of the Toros' 35.

Kevin Warren led the effort for the Otters (3-13, 1-9 CCAA) by scoring 16 points. Jahvon Johnson had a dozen and Julien Ducree had 10.

Neither side had led by more than nine points. Trailing 30-23 at the start of the second half, the Toros quickly erased that deficit in 3:40 and would start a back-and-forth battle for the lead.

Free throws became the different within the final two minutes as the Golson hit 8 free throws to maintain the Toros lead for the remainder of regulation.

The Toros return to the Torodome Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against Cal State East Bay.
