Ninety-Two Earn Athletics Spring Honor Roll Status

CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills senior women's soccer player Lindsey Armstrong completed her eighth and final semester as a student-athlete with her eighth 4.0 to highlight five Toro student-athletes with perfect marks as a 92 total made the Spring 2016 honor roll, the third-highest total in the department's history.

The San Diego native and Health Science major completed a stellar academic career in which she was named the CSUDH Presidential Outstanding Student Award (the highest honor bestowed upon any CSUDH student), the Dr. Richard Butwell Award (the highest honor bestowed upon a student-athlete) as well as the CCAA's Inaugural Impact Award, which recognizes a single CCAA student-athlete who has exemplified leadership through participation in community service and engagement activities while maintaining dedication to academics and athletics.

Armstrong earned the Impact Award after being selected by the conference's 13 member institutions' athletics staff and SAAC members, and was chosen from approximately 3,000 student-athletes from the 13 CCAA institutions.

Baseball's Brady Conlan, who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the MLB Amateur Draft last month, notched his second-straight semester of straight As, and was joined by women's soccer's Ida Eriksson, volleyball's Hannah Warner and men's soccer's Tony Alfaro, who was selected by the Seattle Sounders in this year's MLS SuperDraft.

In addition, 14 other outstanding scholars earned a GPA of at least a 3.80 to give the Toros 19 student-athletes with the highest marks, tying fall semester's tally for the highest GPAs.  In all, the 92 total was 10 short of the record 102.

All 10 sports were represented in the fall tally as women's soccer led the way with 20 selections to mark the 12th time in the last 14 semesters the program has either taken or shared the top spot.  Baseball, which set last semester's top mark, followed with 17, with men's soccer right behind at 15 to round out the sports with double-figure recipients.

Track placed nine students on the honor roll, with women's basketball's eight, seven by both softball and volleyball, six from golf and three from men's basketball rounding out a stellar academic semester.

Percentage wise, .750 of golf's roster earned honor roll status, topping women's soccer (.741), men's soccer (.577), baseball (.531), women's basketball (.444), volleyball (.438), softball (.389) track and field (.375) and men's basketball (.273) as four of 10 sports boasted at least half their rosters making the list.
