Game Two of Series Against Tritons Postponed Due to Rain With Teams Tied at 7-7 in 11th

Box Score LA JOLLA -- Game two of the four-game home and away series featurning the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros and No. 8 UC San Diego was postponed to Sunday morning due to rain, with the teams tied at 7-7 in the top of the 11th inning and the Toros threatening with two runners on and no outs.

Before the game came to a halt Friday, the Toros have set themselves up with pinch-hitter Adrian Padilla and Johnny Palmer hitting back-to-back leadoff singles off of Zach Wallace. Shortstop Adrian Guzman is due up when the game resumes.

Jeffrey Gogue has been the pitcher throwing the extra innings for the Toros, going 2.1 with a hit and a strikeout. Both Gogue and Wallace are expected to return to the mound at Toro Field Sunday. CSUDH has used four relievers in the game while UCSD has called in six from the pen.

For the second consecutive day it has been a slugfest, with CSUDH leading the category 15-10. Brady Conlan continued his hot bat with a 4-for-6 effort thus far, driving in two on a home run in the seventh and scoring two. Designated hitter Shawn Sweeney has three hits, including a double and a RBI.

Starter Joe Bresson lasted only 4.1 innings. He gave up only two runs on three hits and walks each, but was at 90 pitches in the fifth frame. The opposing starter, Preston Mott, carried the Tritons to the seventh allowing three earned runs on seven hits and two walks.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Toros had loaded the bases and one out. Trevor North won a free pass to first to force in the first run, Jeff Gilstrap singled to right to score in the second and a defensive miscue by the third baseman to brought in two more to give CSUDH a 4-2 lead.

CSUDH would add three more runs in the seventh with Conlan's two-run shot and Sweeney's RBI double. UC San Diego did answer back in its half of the inning with four runs to cut the deficit to 7-6.

The Tritons rally became complete one inning later. A leadoff walk followed by back-to-back two-out singles allowed the tying run to score.
