Free Tickets Available for CCAA Women's Basketball Playoff Game on March 1

CARSON -- Successfully defending its regular season California Collegiate Athletic Association title last weekend and now having claimed a CCAA crown three-years straight after also winning the league tournament in 2013-14 and 2014-15, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team earned the top seed by way of a tiebreaker between the three Co-CCAA Champions, and will host crosstown rival and No. 8 seed Cal State L.A. in a CCAA Tournament 1st Round game tomorrow night at 7:00 pm in the Torodome.

And thanks to the generosity of CSUDH's Office of Student Life and Housing, a total of 225 tickets to the playoff game will be made available to CSUDH housing residents and the general student population with valid IDs on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Sign-ups for housing residents have begun in the A Building, with the first 25 housing residents with a valid CSUDH Housing sticker to sign up guaranteed a free ticket for Tuesday's game, which can be picked up under a canopy outside the Torodome's front doors starting at 6 pm tomorrow.  At pickup, these 25 housing residents also will receive a voucher good for one free taco at the DH Lounge after the game.

Additionally, the Office of Student Life is sponsoring 200 free tickets for tomorrow night to all CSUDH students with a valid ID on a first-come, first-serve basis, also available tomorrow at 6 pm under the canopy outside the Torodome's front doors, as well as pom-poms while supplies last.  The first 200 students also will receive a meal coupon for a free bacon-wrapped hot dog at the game, courtesy of Bart's Carts.

And not to be left out, Athletics is providing free tickets to the first 100 CSUDH staff/faculty members to RSVP to Athletics Director Jeff Falkner at jfalkner@csudh.edu.  The first 100 to RSVP also will be able to bring a guest to what is expected to an exciting night.

Now two-time defending CCAA Regular Season Champions (2014-15, 2015-16) and two-time defending CCAA Tournament Champions (2013-14, 2014-15), the Toros are led by senior Breanne Garcia, who leads the league with her 17.9 points per game average, Monay Lee, Imari Brown and Kielyn Wilson.

Garcia also sits 6th in steals and free throw percentage in the CCAA, 7th in 3PT field goal percentage, and 8th in both assists ands field goal percentage, with Brown in the top 20 in four categories (2nd in FG%, 7th in scoring, 18th in rebounds and FT%) and Kielyn Wilson in three (3rd in blocks, 4th in rebounds and 11th in steals).

Lee, meanwhie, who suffered a career-ending knee injury on Senior Night against the Golden Eagles on February 13, finishes the regular season 5th in FG%, 6th in rebounds, 10th in scoring, 11th in assists and 17th in steals in the CCAA, all while missing the final 38 minutes of Senior Night against the Golden Eagles, and 159 minutes and 55 seconds of the final four games of the regular season.

In those historic and sportsmanship-filled five seconds against the Chico State Wildcats, however, Lee was given the opportunity to set the CSUDH career scoring mark, which she did in the opening seconds after a Garcia assist.

The moment drew nationwide praise for its sportsmanship, and, as of this morning, has seen Evan Schreiber from KRCR Channel 7's story on Lee surpass 68,000 views and reach 745 shares.

The story, as well as other links from that night including espnW, can all be found at the links above.

General Admission tickets for tomorrow night's CCAA tournment contest are $5 for all adults, $3 for non-CSUDH students and children, and $2 for CSUDH students with valid ID once the 225 tickets are distributed.
