Toros Take Early Lead Against Fighting Falcons; Run to Fifth Straight Win

CARSON – Four starters from the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team reached double figures in points and the Toros ran away to an 83-58 victory over California Miramar Saturday to complete the non-conference schedule.
 
Mikey Hatfield had a team-leading 13 points and eight rebounds, Khalil Bedart-Ghani and Vincent Golson both had a dozen points and Deondre Otis had 11.
 
It was also a night the Toros (6-2) made half of their 60 shot attempts from the field. CSUDH did struggle on the free throw line though, going 16-for-29.
 
AJ Mathis and Devin McDonough both led the effort for the Fighting Falcons (0-4) by dropping 16 and 15 points, respectively.
 
After Devin McDonough's jumper 28 seconds in give the Fighting Falcons their only lead, the Toros took control of the game using a 16-1 run in the span of five minutes. Mikey Hatfield had five of those points during the run.
 
After building a 44-28 lead at halftime, the Toros had led by as many as 29 with 5:30 remaining in the contest.
 
CSUDH will now finish the season in CCAA play, starting Friday at crosstown rival Cal State LA. Tipoff is at the conclusion of the women's game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
