Sea Lions Cruise to 75-58 Win Over Toros

Box Score SAN DIEGO -- Host Point Loma University took a commanding 35-21 lead over Cal State Dominguez Hills at the half and never looked back en route to a 75-58 win to keep the Toros winless on the young season.  Senior Simone Thompson (pictured) and freshman Destinee Williams both scored 11 points to lead the Cardinal and Gold, but PLNU boasted four players in double figures in the decision.

The Toros drop to 0-2 as they head to Hawai'i for three games next week.

The Sea Lions roared to a 17-9 lead after the first period, enjoying a 35-21 lead at intermission.  The Toros kept it closer in the third as it lost the stanza by just four points, and won the fourth frame for the final count.

CSUDH shot just 33.3 from the floor compared to 41.4% for the hosts, while PLNU hit seven threes compared to just two for the Cardinal and Gold.

A big difference in the game came on points off turnovers as the Sea Lions were able to score 21 points off of 16 Toro miscues that included PLNU's seven steals.

The Toros will leave the mainland on Tuesday, facing BYU-Hawai'i at 4 pm local time on Wednesday.
