Women's Soccer Falls to Coyotes in StubHub Center

CARSON -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team was victimized one-goal deficit for the fourth time in five matches as Cal State San Bernardino scored the match's only goal in the 37th minute inside the StubHub Center on a warm Friday evening.

The Toros (7-7-0 overall) fall to 4-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and remain at 12 points.

Despite the five-match losing skid, the Toros still remain in the hunt for a spot to the conference championship.

CSUDH currently sits in seventh in the standings but only trail third-place CSUSB (7-5-1, 6-2-1 CCAA) by six points. San Francisco State holds on to the sixth and final spot by two points from the Toros with only three matches remaining, including against fifth place Cal Poly Pomona on Senior Day Sunday at 2 p.m.

After going back-and-forth in possession, CSUSB ended that battle in the 37th minute when Nick Argentieri took control of a loose ball from the top of the box and arched it over goalkeeper Elisa Martin.

The Toros came close to tying the match in the 43rd minute. Ida Eriksson found Jada Thomas wide open in the box but the shot though was saved by keeper Megan Vina.

CSUDH had trouble building any kind of rhythm. Lauren Hall tried to upstart it when she moved her way across the pitch but the Coyotes managed to break the momentum inside their own box.

Hall had one of the best chances in the second half when in the 86th minute she fired a shot from the right side that made Vina dive for the stop.

CSUDH had outshot CSUSB 12-9 but the Coyotes had a 4-3 on goal advantage.

The StubHub Center has not been quite a homefield advantage to the Toros as they have dropped to 1-5-0.
