Women's Soccer's Can't Find Momentum in Loss to Cal Poly Pomona

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team came up short on giving their eight seniors a win on their final match at Toro Stadium as Cal Poly Pomona took a 1-0 win on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The loss hurts the Toros chances of making a California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship appearance in November. CSUDH (7-8-0, 4-6-0) still has 12 points but is now in a tie for ninth in the standings. San Francisco State still holds on to the sixth and final spot to the tournament with 14 points. Cal State San Marcos is a provisional member for one more year which makes it ineligible for postseason play.

The regular-season comes to a close this week and CSUDH will play its final two contests on the road, starting with second-place Sonoma State Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The Seawolves will be seeking one more win to earn a first-round bye.

Lauren Miller was the hero for the Broncos (7-5-2, 6-3-1) as she scored the match's only goal in the 58th minute. Hailey James dribbled to the right post before sending it back where an uncovered Miller managed to get enough footing to slot it by goalkeeper Elisa Martin.

The Toros logged in only four shots on the afternoon.
