CARSON — Imari Brown scored 20 points off the bench, seniors Breanne Garcia and Monay Lee both netted 10 each as the Cal State Dominguez Hills held off a reeling San Francisco State squad, 65-55, Friday night to increase the Toros win streak to 11 straight.
The Toros (14-6) also remain a perfect 12-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Kielyn Wilson had a productive night in the rebounding department, bringing down 11 of the Toros' 47. Brown finished with nine while Anandi Jimenez had seven.
Lee, meanwhile, tallied seven of the Toros 21 assists.
CSUDH combined for a 43.9 shooting percentage from the field while holding the Gators (5-13, 3-9 CCAA) to 33.3.
Tatsiana Dashkevich led the effort for the Gators with 15 points, the only player to have reached double figures. She also made three of her baskets from 3-point range. While the Toros limited the Gators to 33 rebounds, Laura Lawson went to the glass nine times.
After a slow first quarter, the Toros went on a 13-3 run in between periods to build a 21-15 lead.
Brown went 5-for-8 to score 10 points the first half but the Toros went into intermission leading the Gators 28-25.
The Gators picked up four points at the start of the second half for a brief lead. A 13-2 Toro run in the span of five minutes gave the Toros the lead the rest of the game. The Gators did bring the deficit as close as five midway through the fourth quarter.
CSUDH will welcome another Bay Area school, Sonoma State, to the Torodome Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Toros dominated the Seawolves, 76-45, in Rohnert Park three weeks ago.
