Baseball Makes Debut in NCBWA Top 10

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Coming off a three games to one series win over cross-town rival Cal State L.A., the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team debuted this week in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's West Region Top 10 poll, it was announced by the regional office.

Previously not ranked in the NCBWA, the Toros leapt to No. 8 in the poll, ahead of the Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington, Sonoma State and Cal State L.A., with the latter three schools all tied for 10th.

The Toros dropped the opener to the Golden Eagles at home, but regrouped to win the final three, including a twinbill sweep of CSULA on its home field.

Kevin Brown was masterful in the 7-inning nightcap, shutting down the Golden Eagle offense by allowing just four hits, fanning seven in the complete-game win.

Kamran Young then took matters onto his own bat in the finale at Toro Field, slugging a pair of home runs to give CSUDH its first series win over its cross-town rival since the 2010 season.
