Winston Lavendier Named CCAA Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK -- Senior lefty Winston Lavendier continued his stellar start to the 2015 season, and was rewarded with his first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week award, it was announced today by the CCAA office.

The Lancaster native shined against one of the nation's best in 20th-ranked Cal Baptist, holding the Lancers to just one earned run that came in the bottom of the 9th inning as the Toros took a 2-1 win to open the three-game set.

Lavendier also fanned 7 batters against just one walk, while scattering 7 hits in 8.2 innings of work as he improved to 2-0 on the year, boasting a miniscule 0.48 ERA and holding opposing battes to a .172 batting average against.

Lavendier will lead the Toros as they open up CCAA play this week, hosting perennial power UC San Diego on Thursday for a 2 pm start on Toro Field.
