Overtime Unkind to Toros Again in 62-58 Setback to East Bay

CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills misfired on nine of 11 attempts from 3-point land, including three in overtime, as the Toros dropped their second-straight overtime decision in a 62-58 setback to Cal State East Bay on "Think Pink" night.

Justin Sadler paced the Toros with 14 points and eight boards in the loss.

The Toros got off to a hot start, shooting 50% from the floor in the first half.  The Pios, however, despite sinking just 34.5% from the floor, made up for it from behind the arc with four makes to head into halftime down just two at 26-24.

While CSUEB continued to shoot in the 30s, CSUDH's efficiency took a hit after the break as the Toros hit just six shots in 21 attempts, staying in the game by hitting 10-of-14 from the foul line, including the last two by Shaquille Hunter to tie the game at 49-49.

In the extra session, the Pioneers used a 7-2 scoring spurt to take a 5-point lead, which the Toros cut to just two with just 33 ticks left in the period.

But the Pioneers would hit their final two free throws to seal away the win.

Ivan Dooley chipped in with 13 points while Darnell Martin added 12 in the loss.

The Toros will take to the road next weekend, beginning at UC San Diego on Friday, February 20.
