Titans Run Away From Toros in Exhibition Contest

FULLERTON -- Playing in its fourth game in five nights, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team ran out of gas against Division I Cal State Fullerton tonight in Titan Gym, and the result was an 88-56 decision in favor of the hosts that was played as an exhibition for the Cardinal and Gold.

Justin Sadler led the Toros with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, while Arthur Caldwell (pictured) pulled down seven boards in the contest.

The Toros stayed with the Titans through the first half's midpoint when a Jonathan Nichols coast-to-coast layup pulled CSUDH to within 20-16 with 10:58 left. A 7-0 Titan run, however, gave the hosts breathing room as CSF entered the locker room up 42-27.

The Titans kept their offense flowing after the break by scoring the second half's first 12 points, until a Sadler bucket brought the Toros to within 54-29. Another CSF run, this time a 6-0 spurt, however, pulled the hosts further away before reaching their largest lead of the night of 37 points in the runaway.

CSUDH hit just a third of its shots from the floor and just 16.7% from downtown while the Titans connected for 47.9% of their field goal attempts, and 34.8% of their long-range heaves.

Caldwell and Josh Brown added 10 points apiece, while last night's hero in Shaquille Hunter paced CSUDH with three assists as point guard Vincent Golson picked up two early fouls, sending him to the bench early.

CSUDH resumes countable games on Saturday, traveling to national power Cal Poly Pomona to open the California Collegiate Athletic Association schedule, with first tip set for 7:30 pm.
